Is this really a balanced life?
by ShawnS inmy husband who was raised as a witness & has recently considered getting baptised brought home a "personal study schedule".
this study schedule was given to him by an elder and clearly states at the top "do not post to any electronic service such as the internet" - that alone makes me wonder - why are they hiding it??.
anyway, the schedule breaks down every day, clearly states how much time you should be spending reading the bible & jw literature each day through the week.

It's absolutely not reasonable - not even for a single adult who doesn't have to work for a living. Do not under any circumstances accept a bible study yourself, and do everything in your power to encourage your husband to do other things than study and attend meetings. The Watchtower Society tries to drive a wedge between married couples, and you need to try to keep that from happening. The happier and closer you two are as a couple, the more effective you will be in discouraging him from joining up with this cult.

Was Your Experience As A Jehovah's Witness Good In Any Way?
by minimus ini was raised as a witness.
i could've been raised as a catholic but my mother's side of the family came into "the truth" when i was an infant.
i do believe that because of my upbringing, i was a more honest person.

At first, I really felt like I was a part of a wider community. I felt like I had real friends who I could call on in times of need. It was a wonderful feeling of belonging, which I had never really had before. As time wore on though, the people in the congregation stopped the love bombing and I came to realize that none of them were truly my friend. Nobody had time or interest in actually doing the things friends do - hanging out, socializing, helping each other. That realization was heartbreaking for me. In the end, I think becoming a witness was a negative thing. I gave up friends and alienated people who might have devaloped into real friends, and I'm now starting over from scratch socially.

nowadays most companies, large or small, have an hr department.

I have limited contact with my HR department since they are stationed at HQ and I am assigned to a field office 200 miles away. Whenever I need something, it's like pulling teeth to get someone on the phone. It seems they are too busy to actually respond to employees. I'm sure that they have a lot to do, since we have been under a hiring freeze for several years and under a wage freeze for the last year.
